My daughter is married
Wedding Day Bliss
Almost 2 weeks ago our gorgeous girl got married to the man of her dreams.
…and even though I wasn’t wearing orange…there were hints of my favourite colour in my gorgeous bag and my nails!!
What a day!!…I was so worried about the weather, because the wedding was right on the water, the clouds did come over a little bit in the morning but once the afternoon came around, the weather was perfect.
My daughter looked gorgeous in a 1940’s style white dress, with the most gorgeous long veil….as she was getting ready the song that Meryl Streep sings to her daughter in Mamma Mia, popped into my head…how I had watched her go to school, be on stage, and find her way in the world… the wedding of your daughter makes you realise that parents are only the star of their children’s lives for just a short time…and then you are relegated to the wings as they grow up and you become less important in their lives…you are the cameo that comes on to the play of life when ever your child needs you, popping in whenever needed….ohhh I will start crying again!
Now back to my dress….it was a colour I thought I would never have, this was the third dress I had brought!! The other dresses were nice but they just didn’t have the wow factor for “Mother Of the Bride”!. I was endlessly googling Mother of the Bride dresses and shops and then realised there was a great dress shop about 10 minutes from me…Shazzam
I saw this yellow dress in the window, as soon as I saw it I knew it was the dress I was looking for. It wasn’t actually my size and because I had left it too late to order in my correct size…I had to have it altered…and that was where the magic happened…Alex Ditton Design and Alterations, literally took my dress apart, made it bigger and then put it back together again with a lace up section at the back…it was just amazing!…I was so thrilled to be wearing this dress on my daughter and son in law’s day…it was a real Belle from Beauty and the Beast moment.
My husband’s suit was custom made by the wonderful Rundles here in Newcastle. The jacket was black with little stars on it…a nod to our daughter’s time dancing on stage in concerts and musicals…because we always thought she was a star!!
The actual day went so quick, all that planning beforehand, with helping with whatever they wanted , filled our weeks beforehand…and then the day came along with no stress or hiccups.
We were treated to the most gorgeous sunset and everyone was emotional when the speeches were given…I have to say my son’s speech was the best…he is so funny and it is so lovely to see the love between him and his sister.
The night ended with a live band, dancing is my thing so I never stopped!! well in between slamming down lemonades )being a non drinker).
When we came home a few days later my hubby asked what’s the next event on the horizon…and actually there isn’t any life moments coming up next…so I will just keep looking over the photos of my gorgeous girl and her hubby…looking so in love and keep on wondering where all those years went.
